Chapter 15: Exploring the various frameworks of education technology including TPACK, SAMR, Triple E & Technology Integration Matrix

Chapter 15: Exploring the various frameworks of education technology including TPACK, SAMR, Triple E & Technology Integration Matrix Date/Time: 30th May 2024 - Thursday 2:55 am & 31st May 2024 - Friday 4:50 am  This is another interesting post exploring the various technology frameworks that can be used to enhance teaching and learning with technology in the classroom. The post will explore different frameworks these include TPACK, SAMR, Triple E and TIM (Technology Integration Matrix) with examples from classroom practice. The idea of writing a post about the frameworks came from the module 9 of the ISTE online course on exploring ISTE students standards. Educators who work with technology might be aware of the SAMR model by Dr Ruben Pendetura but may not have a detailed insight into the rest of the models.  Let’s start exploring TPACK , TPACK stands for Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge. This means that teachers need to have knowledge of the conten...

Chapter 14: How to teach simple adjectives creatively using technology & traditional resources

Chapter 14: How to teach simple adjectives creatively using technology & traditional resources Date/Time: 28th May Tuesday 6:53 pm &  28th May 2024 Tuesday 10:30 pm This is an interesting blog post about teaching a simple concept “Adjectives” using both traditional and technology resources. This is based on my experience of voluntarily working at Ranaa Child Welfare Foundation -  a school for street children in Peshawar. The post will share some ideas to teach “Adjectives” to learners and some resources that educators can use in their classrooms.  The lesson started with discussing nouns and it was good to see students come up with examples of nouns by looking at their classroom. They remembered the definition well. This was followed by asking students to explain or describe a noun using words. We did a small activity where students described their fellow peers using words. For example a student could be kind, caring, hard working, tall or short, happy or sad etc....

Chapter 13: Learning about Windmills using Paper Pinwheels

Chapter 13: Learning about Windmills using Paper Pinwheels Date/Time: 24th May 2024 Friday - 4:05 am & 24th May 2024 Friday - 9:22 pm This is an interesting blog post about two sessions I recently had with the amazing learners at the Ranaa Child Welfare Foundation - a school for street children in Peshawar doing some amazing work providing quality education to deserving children in the society. The learners about windmills by making paper pinwheels. It was a creative lesson and learners enjoyed making the paper pinwheels. Since the learners are having exams at school, I thought of doing some arts and craft work to keep them relaxed and fresh for the exams. The lesson started with sharing details of the activities for the day. I had made a paper pinwheel after watching a YouTube video. I searched for videos where the steps of making the pin wheel were clearly explained. And came across a video where the instructor explained the process step wise and modelled how to create a pa...

Chapter 12: Exploring ISTE Standards for Students “Global Collaborator” - Part 9

Chapter 12: Exploring ISTE Standards for Students “Global Collaborator” - Part 9 Date/Time: 15th May 2024 Wednesday- 11:54 pm & 16th May 2024 Thursday - 5:23 am This is another interesting post exploring a new ISTE Standard “Global Collaborator”. The post will reflect my key learning from this module of the online ISTE Student Standards course. As always it was a great learning experience and it helped build a lot of clarity about the global collaborator standard. We live in an ever changing world of technology and it is pivotal that both students and teachers are not efficient users of technology but are well aware of how to use technology to collaborate with their global peers to achieve their goals. Each one of us has access to loads of technology around us, what is important is how we can use it to gain access to diverse opinions and global perspectives. This standard too has four indicators and I will try to explain each in detail with examples. Let’s start exploring thi...
