Digital Story Telling

Digital Story Telling Date: 21 st Dec 2014   Story telling whether we call it an art, skill, or rewarded craft, in reality it’s all about sharing and interpreting experiences. It’s about sharing morals and lessons learnt in a unique way. I just can’t stop myself from agreeing with Carol Birch who believes story telling strengthens imagination, and imagination opens doors for creativity. Heather Frost says that everywhere, every place people have told stories. He further adds the cultural wisdom that has passed down to generations due to these stories has enlightened, entertained and informed the spirits of modern day listeners.  A few days back I had the opportunity to attend a Story Telling competition held at Potohar Campus among young children aged 3-6 years. I saw Carol Birch’s words put into action. It was an amazing dive into the world of storytelling.   Children dressed in colorful clothes confidently performed on various themes, left the audience mesmeriz

Education Technology as a Tool

Education Technology as a Tool Date: 5th Dec 2014 One of the things I enjoy doing most is reading quotes of famous people. Every word that I read is an inspiration. Today's inspiration comes from Steve Jobs quote, "What a computer is to me is the most remarkable tool that we have ever come up with. It is the equivalent of a bicycle". You could travel to destinations never explored before.    It just an amazing tool, as far as teaching and learning is concerned, it can do wonders, provided its used appropriately and effectively, at the right place, right time and right purpose. Bill gates rightly advocates this notion when he says “technology is just a tool,

Reflection

Date: 9th Nov 2014 Course: CIE PDQ DTWDT (Diploma in Teaching with Digital Technologies) My five week online course about Diploma in Teaching with Digital Technologies ends today.  It’s been a complete learning experience. The last resource shared was about reflection, how do we reflect, what key elements to consider while reflecting, models of reflection, theories of reflection etc. It opened doors of reflection to me. Reflection is important to me as a teacher, a trainer, an observer and as a program leader in many different aspects. I am in a position where I can provide support, scaffold ideas, build and extend prior knowledge and understanding, guide and assist my candidates on the course, teachers etc.  What I did not know was that reflection is not only about what has gone well and what didn’t, it has to go beyond. The four models shared about reflection helped build on my idea and understanding about reflection. Donald Schon’s model describes two kinds of reflect
