ActionTrack Learning by Experience

Reflection on Webinar: Action Track – Learning by Experience Attended on: 1st August 2014 By: Dr Jhuka Holm and Maija Loikkanen Another interesting webinar that i got to attend during the three day MMVC 14 was about  Action Track an innovative tool for android tablets and smart phones, developed by a Finish company called TAZ Team Action Zone. It was a very interesting session, I got the opportunity to ask questions from the presenter, was a very engaging and interactive session. It allows the creation of both location based and location independent learning experiences. It can be used to create different types of games, interactive stories (users can be part of the stories, and their decisions impact continuum), create puzzles etc. Teachers could create their own personalized lessons and exams. The tool could also be used for classroom training, remote training etc. My understanding is that it allows the creation of both indoor and outdoor activities, which could be

Creating Courses on WIZIQ

Understanding the Teaching System on WIZIQ : Creating Courses Presenter : Dr Nellie Deutsch Thursday June 12, 2014 I could not attend the live webinar so I viewed the recording available on line. I could not connect to other attendees but found the question answer session and web links shared during the session very helpful.  This was one of the third webinars about Teaching online with WIZIQ. I found it extremely interesting. The presenter began with the basics of how to develop a course using WIZIQ. Session started with a review of June, talked about home and profile, adding content and scheduling a class. The presenter asked questions about link to that day’s presentation, account on wiziq, link to course etc. the presenter demonstrated how to create a course on wiziq (talked of free and paid courses, how to add a pay pal account etc). She also discussed the type of courses that could be created like paid, private and MOOC. When creating a course need to add a cou

Exploring Use of ipads for Engaged Learning

Reflection on Webinar: Exploring the use of ipads for engaged learning in Elementary Classroom- a survey of teachers Attended on: 1st august 2014 By: Lindsay Bordonoro One of the other interesting sessions that i got a chance to attend at the MMVC14 was by Lindsay Bordonoro on “Exploring the use of ipads for engaged learning in Elementary Classroom - a survey of teachers” on August 1st , 2014. It was good to interact with the presenter and the attendees, seemed like a real classroom. I was really interested in the research since this directly relates to one of the projects we have been working on for the past one year or so. We have introduced tablets in the Early Year classrooms. We have developed technology integrated lessons and shared them with teachers through our professional community website online. I really wanted to see what does research say about the use of ipads/tablets etc in early years or elementary schools and how do actually teachers and students respond t

Blended Online Learning BOL

Reflection on Webinar:Blended Online Learning Attended on: MMVC14 Date: 1st August 2014 By Dr Nellie Deutsch I had a chance to attend a very interesting session with Dr Nellie on Blended Online Learning during the MMVC14 Conference with a number of participants from around the world on 1st August 2014. It was a live webinar using the WIZIQ platform. I got a chance to ask questions from presenter and interact with the attendees which was a completely unique experience for me, different people, different countries and different time zones interacting at the same place made worth attending. The presenter started by asking all attendees to compare a face to face conversation with this virtual communication, she encouraged to use the chat box, share thoughts about what is it being in a virtual classroom. She began with asking attendees about “ Blended Learning” , some interesting responses were shared like a mix of face to face and online learning, blend of synchronous and as

Differentating Feedback Strategies

Reflection on Webinar: Technology and Feedback Strategies for Differentiated Teaching Attended on: Sunday Aug 03 By: Andreas Molander One of the interesting webinars I got to view later as a recording was about using simple technology tools to provide feedback to students based on their individual needs. The webinar was presented by Andreas Molander. I found it very relevant because as a teacher it is important that we assess learners based on their individual learning styles and needs. It takes you through how use of ICT could reduce the number of hours teachers spent on marking, intensify learning process and providing feedback accordingly. Presenter began by sharing that teaching is the most rewarding job in the world. He shared the agenda for the webinar, focus would be on formative feedback strategies using digital tools that enable differentiated feedback.  He shared a survey conducted in UK about the hours worked per week which is 60 hours, time spent marking papers

Enhanced Learning Environment - ELE

Enhanced Learning Environment - ELE I believe technology has the power to transform lives of the learner in the classroom. Nobody would disagree with the notion that technology has deeply impacted our lives, the way we communicate, the way we teach and the way we learn. This belief got strengthened with the introduction of various education technology tools in the early year classroom in our school, Beaconhouse School System, Northern Region, where we initiated a pilot project titled " Enhanced Learning Environment - ELE " last year, 2013 in 12 of our branches. Under this project early year classrooms were equipped with numerous technology tools like Multimedia projectors, 10 inch Intel android tablets (6 per section), All in one PC, Printer, Scanner and digital camera. A team of teachers and coordinators was formed who had to explore relevant and meaningful apps on the internet to meet the curriculum needs. Once a resource bank of apps was developed, these w
