It has opened doors to #professional development for me, provided me insight into what is going around in the world of #education #technology which I was unaware off, it has let me connect to education technology experts all over the globe, it has given me insight into how various educators are using education technology into classrooms, it has actually opened a window for me to see and learn from their classroom practices, it has given me hope above all that #social media could be used as effectively as one wants , there are no limits, the oppo...

EDTECH Tools in Clasroom

EDTECH Tools in Classroom Date : 8th Aug 2017 Its always a blessing traveling and meeting exceptionally talented people from different cultures,  whether be it my learning experience in UK with mentors from Reading university or my visit to Cairo back in 2007 to attend an iEARN conference sharing students work, or my recent visit to Marrakesh, Morocco in July 2017 to attend and present one of my projects "Technology for a Cause - Empowering Kids Enhancing Skills" that I had been working for the past few months with kids at SOS children Village Peshawar at the iEARN 2017 conference. Burt Robertson says and I completely agree, " the more places I travel to the more I see,  the more I learn, the less I know and I love it". I believe every journey far or near opens doors to newer learning experiences, at times erasing past memories and giving birth to newer ones, yet ready to be explored. My blog below is a reflection of my journey into an unknown land and some ...

Re - Thinking & Re-Inventing Computer Labs in Schools !

Re-Thinking & Re-Inventing Computer Labs in Schools! Date: 6th June 2017 This time my blog begins with an interesting thought about re-inventing computer labs in schools and turning them into design studios where students act as content producers and creators and are able to share their work with an authentic audience, which means being able to interact with a real audience. The idea is inspired by a blog "3 Steps to creating student design teams"  by Nichole Kreuger. The author introduces a classroom  which is rich in discussion, empowered by student feedback, and collaboration. What I find most interesting in the blog is the use of ECO in schools. ECO is an online world where players interact with a simulated world , they build a civilization using resources from an ECO system , their decisions impact the ECO system both in constructive and destructive ways. Thus engaging students in evidence based decision making. The game covers diverse topics ranging form food, ...

Computer Games – Exploring the whys and why –not’s?

Computer Games – Exploring the whys and why –not’s? Date:    4th May 2017/Thursday This time my blog explores the whys and why – not’s of computer games whether online or offline. At times it worrying seeing kids glued to computer screens, the moment you intend to take away the device or exit the game one observes a defiant behavior. For the short term such change in behavior might not cause problems but for the longer I feel if not monitored might lead to serious concerns to kids health both physical, mental and emotional. The blog is inspired from my personal experiences working with kids at an NGO. Their addiction to computer games, some change in behavior both towards elders and class fellows compelled me to remove the games from the tablets and explore some interesting ones that lead to enhanced skills like creativity, innovation, team building, collaborating etc. After hours of a surgical procedure on tablets, I was successfully able to disable ...
